Ingredients
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cup buttermilk
Preparation
Step 1
Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. With a pastry blender cut in finely shortening. Add buttermilk. Stir with a fork to make a soft dough. Turn onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently 8 to 10 times.
Roll or pat to desired thickness. Cut with a floured 1 3/4" cutter. Place on ungreased baking sheet close together for soft sided biscuits.
Bake in preheated 425 oven for 12 to 15 minutes.
