Ingredients

  • 5 Large Loaves Bread
  • 12 Eggs
  • 2 (12 oz. each) Evaporated Milk
  • 2 Cans Water
  • 1/2 Gallon Milk or more
  • 1 Large Onion, diced
  • 2 Quarts Celery, chopped
  • 2 tsp. Salt
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1 Cup Margarine, or more

Preparation

Step 1

Tear bread into small pieces. (Day old bread works well.) Blend eggs, evaporated milk, water, and milk. Stir into bread until nice and moist. Add onion and celery and mix well. Add seasoning to taste and mix well. Spoon bread mixture into greased baking pans and dot with margarine or butter. Cover and bake at 325 degrees for 2-2 1/2 hours. Uncover and bake another 1/2 hour.
