IRISH SCONES

Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 6 cups of flour
  • 3 heaped tsp. of baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 sticks of margarine

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
Sift flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a large bowl.
Add margarine and mix until dough is like fine bread crumbs.
Add raisins.
In a separate bowl, mix eggs and milk together.
Add to dry mixture.
Make 24 balls and place on floured baking pan.
Brush balls with an egg beaten and then sprinke with cinnamon and sugar.
Place in oven and bake for 20 minutes.


Yield: 24 scones
