Ingredients

  • 1 cup Walnuts
  • 1 cup Pecans
  • 4 tbsp. unsalted butter, cut into pieces
  • 1 tbsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 tbsp. corn syrup

Preparation

Step 1

Lightly toast nuts in 350 degree oven for 12 minutes. Let cool.
Line baking sheet with parchment paper and grease with vegetable oil.

In bowl, place butter, vanilla, baking soda and set aside.

In pot over high heat, bring sugar, corn syrup and 1/3 cup water to boil. Boil sugar mixture until it turns light amber colour, about 12 minutes. Remove from heat, stir in butter mixture quickly with a wooden spoon.

Stir in nuts and spoon mixture onto baking sheet. Break into pieces to serve.
