Honey Dipt Donuts

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 3 to 3 - 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 Tbsp. margarine
  • 2 eggs at room temperature

Preparation

Step 1

Heat honey and 1/3 cup water, stirring until blended. Chill.
Mix 1 1/2 cups flour, sugar, salt and undissolved yeast.
Heat milk, 1/4 cup water and margarine until warm.
Add to dry ingredients and beat 2 minutes at medium speed, scraping bowl occasionally.
Add eggs and 1/2 cup flour.
Beat at high speed 2 minutes.
Stir in enough flour to make a thick batter.
Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
Stir down.
Drop rounded tsps. into deep hot oil (375 degrees).
Fry a few at a time until golden brown, about 2 minutes on each side.
Drain on paper towels about 1 minute.
Dip into honey mixture.
Drain and set on wire racks to dry.
