Oatmeal Bread

Ingredients

  • 2- 1/2 cups boiling water
  • 1 cup oatmeal
  • 1 heaping Tbsp. butter
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 pkg. yeast
  • 1/2 warm water
  • 3 cups whole wheat flour
  • 3 cups white flour

Preparation

Step 1

Pour boiling water over oatmeal.
Add butter and let cool.
Add molasses, honey, and salt.
Dissolve yeast in warm water.
Add yeast to oatmeal mixture.
Mix in flour and knead 5 minutes.
Let rise in greased bowl about 2 hours.
Punch down, flip and let rise another 45 minutes.
Punch down, divide, and let rise in 2 greased loaf pans til bread is at top of pans.
Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes or until done.

Yield: 2 loaves
