  • TOPPING:
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 (a bit less) cups sugar
  • 1 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 cups blueberries (more if you want)
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons butter, hard

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Grease and flour a 9 x 9-inch baking dish.

Sift together first four ingredients, set aside.

In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in vanilla. Beat in the buttermilk alternately with the flour mix, mixing until just incorporated. Stir in blueberries. Pour batter into prepared pan.

Topping: In a small bowl, combine flour and sugar. Cut in butter until mix resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle over top of batter.

Bake in preheated oven for 50 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool.
