green bean-cherry tomato salad with basil-buttermilk dressing

Ingredients
- 3 pounds green beans or 1 1/2 pounds each yellow and green beans
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 pints cherry tomatoes, halved lengthwise
- DRESSING
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise
- 1/3 cup sour cream
- 1/3 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup snipped fresh basil leaves
- 1 large garlic clove, minced
- 2 tbsp rice wine vinegar
- salt and pepper to tastes
Preparation
Step 1
Place beans, 2/3 cup water, and salt in a large (12 inch) skillet. Cover, turn heat to high, and bring water to a boil. Once beans start to steam, set timer and cook beans until crisp-tender, about 5 minutes. (do not let skillet run dry) Drain beans, then dump them onto a paper towel lined cookie sheet to cool quickly.
transfer cooled beans to a large bowl, add tomatoes.
to make dressing:
mix ingredients together in a small bowl. pour dressing over beans and tomatoes, to to coat and serve.
NOTE: you can make both ahead of time and mix right before serving
