Ingredients
- 3 tbsp canola or vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup popcorn kernels
- 3 tbsp granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp ancho chili powder
- 2 tsp kosher salt
Preparation
Step 1
Heat the oil in the bottom of a heavy 4-quart pan over medium heat until just warm, about 1 minute. Add popcorn in a single layer on the bottom of the pan; sprinkle sugar over the top. Cover the pan.
Let kernels cook, shaking occasionally to prevent burning. When popping slows to 3 to 5 seconds between pops, remove pan from burner and stir in the chili powder and salt. Mix until combined. Transfer popcorn to a large bowl and eat immediately.
