  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
  • 2 eggs

Step 1

In a large bowl combine flour, cheese, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt and pepper. In a smaller bowl beat eggs, melted butter and buttermilk together with a whisk. Add to flour mixture and mix with a spoon just enough to wet all the ingredients. Pour mixture into a loaf pan that has just the bottom of the pan sprayed or greased. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 35 to 40 minutes. Allow to cool for 15 minutes before removing from pan. Makes one loaf.
