Vodka Bacon Tomato sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 slices bacon
  • 1/2 c chopped onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 4 OZ vodka
  • 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/4 c heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 4 tsp dried basil
  • ground pepper to taste

Preparation

Step 1

Place bacon in large saucepan and cook over medium heat, turning occasionally until crisp, about 5 minutes.
Drain bacon on papertowel
Return saucepan to medium-low heat. Add onion and garlic, cook and stir until onion is translucent, about 3 minutes. Increase heat to high, add vodka and bring to boil. Cook until reduced by 1/2 about 2 minutes. Stir in tomatoes , heavy cream, Worcestershire and red pepper flakes. Reduce to simmer and cook sauce until thickened, about 10 minutes.
Serve over pasta, sprinkle with bacon, basil and pepper.
