Peanut Butter Swirl Brownies
By suekendrick
This recipe has a Chocolate Syrup that goes with it....but you can buy a chocolate liquid syrup and use that if you choose to....but it doesn't taste as good as the homemade syrup.
Ingredients
- CHOCOLATE SYRUP:
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2/3 cup peanut butter
- 1 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 Tb. vanilla
- 3 large eggs
- 2 Tb. milk
- 1/2 Tb. baking powder
- 1 1/4 cup flour
- 1/2 cup chocolate syrup
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup cocoa
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1/2 cup HOT water
- 2 Tb. butter 1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven 325 degrees. Lightly grease and flour a 9 x 13 inch pan (I usually use Pam with flour added in it) In mixing bowl, beat the butter and peanut butter together until soft and combined. Add the brown sugar and salt. Add the vanilla. Beat in the eggs one at a time until the mixture is light and fluffy. Add the milk and mix again. Mix together the baking powder and flour and mix into the dough mix until well combined. Scrap this mixture into the prepared pan. Pour the chocolate syrup onto the batter indifferent dollops. With a table knife, swirl the chocolate throughout the the batter, but don't over swirl. Bake for 40 - 45 minutes. You can frost this if you want, but you don't need to. When I do choose to frost it, I mix up a chocolate/peanut butter frosting for it.
CHOCOLATE SYRUP:
Mix the sugar, cocoa and salt in a medium saucepan. Add water and cook, stirring frequently until it boils. Boil for about one minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add the butter. After the butter melts, add the vanilla and stir unto smooth.
