Butterscotch Brownies

Ingredients

  • 1/4 C shortening
  • 1 C packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 t vanilla
  • 3/4 C flour
  • 1 t baking powder
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1/2 t chopped nuts, optional

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 350 degrees.

Heat shortening over low heat until melted, remove from heat. Mix in brown sugar, egg and vanilla. Stir in remaining ingredients. Spread in greased square pan, 8x8 in. Bake 25 minutes. Cut while still warm.
