Ingredients

  • step 1:
  • 1/2 cup softened margarine or butter
  • 1 pinch of baking soda
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • step 2:
  • 1/2 cup creamed butter or margarine
  • 2 tbsp vanilla custard powder
  • 3 tbsp milk or canned cream
  • 2 cups icing sugar
  • step 3:
  • 4 squares of semi sweet chocolate squares OR
  • 2/3 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tbsp butter or margarine
  • step 4:
  • 4 tbsp softened butter or margarine
  • 2 cups icing sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 3 tbsp milk or cream
  • 1 "cap" full (approx. 1/2 tsp), maple flavoring

Preparation

Step 1

step 1:
For microwave - combine in a bowl and bring to a boil.
For top of stove. - combine in a pot and bring to a boil.
Once boiled, stir in two cups of rolled oats and put in a 8 x 8 pan lightly "pammed" or
greased, and bake in a 375 F oven for five to 10 minutes until golden brown. Cool.

step 2:

Beat until light and spread on top of cooled base, (step 1)


step 3:

Melt over low heat or in a microwave and let cool. When cool but still runny spread over second layer ( step 2 ). Let set for 5 -10 minutes in fridge

step 4:

Combine butter or margarine with icing sugar and blend well adding vanilla and thin with milk or cream until this makes a soft texture creamy enough to spread. Add maple flavoring to this and mix well, then spread over third layer ( step 3 ). Chill in refrigerator. Cut in squares.
