    tsp vanilla

    cup sugar

    cup icing

    tbsp lemon juice

  • 1/2

    tsp grated lemon rind

Directions

Sift flour into large bowl; rub in shortening until mixture resembles fine bread crumbs. Put milk and sugar into small saucepan, stir over low heat until sugar has dissolved, add vanilla. Add lightly beaten egg and warm milk gradually to flour mixture; mix well. Turn out onto lightly floured surface and knead until dough is smooth Take teaspoons of the. dough and roll into thin rolls about 5 1/2 inches long. Twist two rolls together and form into a circle, pressing ends together. Place, on lightly greased oven trays and bake in 375 degree own for 15 minutes (up to 20) or until biscuits are light golden. While still warm dip tops of biscuit into the lemon icing. Leave, the biscuits on a wire rack to cool. Makes about 16.
