  • 2 cups sliced peaches
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Step 1

Line well greased 8x8x2 pan with peaches. Sprinkle with lemon juice. Cream sugar, butter together. Add milk alternately with flour, baking powder and salt which have been combined together. Pour batter over peaches. Combine one cup sugar, 1 tablespoon cornstarch and ¼ teaspoon salt. Sprinkle over cake. Pour one cup boiling water over top of cake and bake until brown.
