Ingredients
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme leaves
- 1/2 tsp each salt and pepper
- (approx.)
- 2 olive oil
- 2 cans (28 oz) diced
- tomatoes, drained
- ¹⁄3 cup dry red wine
- 1 tomato paste
- 3 chopped fresh basil
- 1/2 tsp granulated sugar (approx.)
Preparation
Step 1
Place the onion, garlic, thyme, salt and pepper to the
ActiFry pan. Drizzle evenly with the oil. Cook for 8 minutes.
Add the tomatoes, red wine and tomato paste.
Cook for 30 minutes or until sauce is thickened.
Stir in the basil and sugar. Taste and adjust salt, pepper and
sugar as needed.
Customize this recipe by adding seasonings such as dried oregano leaves, hot pepper flakes and fennel seed when
adding the dried thyme.

Reserve some of the canned tomato juices so that you can adjust the consistency of the sauce if necessary.
