Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup softened butter or margarine
  • 1 3/4 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup Hershey's Cocoa
  • 1 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/3 cups water

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 350*F. Prepare 2 8 or 9" pans with non stick cooking spray.

In large mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla, beat on medium speed for 1 minute.

Stir together flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; add to butter mixture alternately with water, beating after each addition. Pour into prepared pans and bake for 34 to 40 minutes or until toothpick in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pan to wire racks.

Cool completey. Frost with Buttercream Frosting or Fluffy Peanut Butter Frosting.
