MUSTARD SAUCE - FOR CORNED BEEF

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 cup (30 g) all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup (150 ml) milk
  • 2/3 cup cooking liquid from corned beef
  • 4 tsp white vinegar
  • 2 tsp dry mustard
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • salt
  • black pepper

Preparation

Step 1

Melt the butter in a saucepan. Add the flour and cook, stirring for 1 minute

Remove from the heat. Gradually blend in the milk and 2/3 cup (150 ml) of the cooking liquid from the beef.

Bring to a boil, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens. Simmer for 2 minutes.

In a bowl, combine mustard, vinegar, and sugar and stir into the sauce.

Cook for 1 minute, add salt and pepper to taste.
