Dulce de Leche Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2-14 oz. cans sweetened condensed milk

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350°. Pour condensed milk into 8 inch (about 4 cup) square baking dish, and cover with aluminum foil. Set baking dish inside a 13 x 9“ baking pan. Pour enough boiling water into pan to reach halfway up sides of baking dish.

Bake in oven, adding more boiling water to maintain same level if necessary, until condensed milk is toffee colored (the top will be darker), about two hours. Carefully remove pan from oven. Remove baking dish from pan, and stir dolce de leche to blend while still warm. Set aside, and let cool completely, 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

Transfer dolce de Leche to a very clean, dry glass jar with an air tight lid and store in the refrigerator for up to three weeks.
