Corn Bread

Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. cornmeal
  • 1 1/4 c. milk
  • 1 c. flour
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 1/3 c. melted shortening or oil

Preparation

Step 1

1. Preheat oven to 400 F. Grease loaf pans.
2. Mix together cornmeal and milk. Set aside for 5 minutes.
3. In separate bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.
4. Stir egg and oil(shortening) into cornmeal mixture.
5. Add cornmeal mixture to dry ingredients, stirring only as necessary.
6. Bake 40-50 minutes.
