Ingredients

  • 1 pound Italian sausage, bulk pork sausage or ground beef-or combination
  • 1 clove (or more to taste) garlic minced
  • 1 Tablespoon chopped parsley
  • 1 Tablespoon basil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 -1 pound can (2 cups) tomatoes
  • 2 -6 oz cans tomato paste
  • 1 -10 pkg lasagna noodles
  • 2 -12 oz cartons (3 cups) large curd cottage (cream style)
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesean cheese
  • 1 pound Mozzarella cheese, sliced thin

Preparation

Step 1

Brown meat slowly: spoon off excess fat. Add the next 6 ingredients to meat. Simmer, uncovered, until thick, about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Cook noodles in boiling salted water until tender: drain, rinse in cold water.
Combine cottage cheese with the next 5 ingredients.

Place half the noodles in a 13 x 9 x2 baking dish; spread half the cottage cheese mixture over; add half the Mozzarella cheese and half the meat mixture. Repeat layers.

Bake at 375 for 30 minutes or until bubbly. Let stand 10-15 minutes before cutting in squares. Serves 12
