Bananas Foster

A slightly different bananas foster recipe. I prefer the bananas to end up more like the vegetables in Oso Buco and fall apart.

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 4 overripe bananas
  • 1/2 cup brandy
  • 1 quart french vanilla ice cream

Step 1

Keep ice cream in the freezer until the last step. Heat brown sugar, butter, 1/4 cup of brandy and cinnamon in your choice of browning pan until sugar and butter are melted. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until golden brown, about 3 minutes. Cut bananas into quarters and add in. After bananas are coated throughly (note: they might start falling apart a bit but that's ok). Remove from heat, dim the lights and gather your guests around. Pour in brandy the remaining brandy and ignite. Watch until burns down. Remove ice cream from freezer and add a scoop or two to a bowl and spoon warm syrup and bananas over the ice cream. Enjoy!
