HOLLY TURNER'S LASAGNE FROM SCRATCH

This a "fancy" lasagne recipe... lots of work because you make the meat sauce from scratch - great for company!!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lasagne noodles
  • 1 lb mozzarella
  • 1 lb ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup grated parmesan
  • SAUCE
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 lbs lean ground beef
  • 2 - 15 oz cans tomatoe sauce
  • 1 - 28 oz can Italian tomatoes
  • 1 - 5 oz can tomatoe paste
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp basil
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 - 8 oz can mushrooms

Preparation

Step 1

Cook noodles.

Brown ground beef and onions in oil. Combine all other ingredients and cook for 2 hours.

Put in lasagne pan.

Start with meat layer, noodles, mozzarella cheese, ricotta cheese and egg mixture, parmesan cheese - end with meat sauce.

Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour
