Ingredients
- 1/2 cup crisco
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1 1/4 cups buttermilk
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 cups flour
- 2/3 cup baking cocoa
Preparation
Step 1
1. Beat crisco, sugar, baking soda and salt on medium high speed. Beat in buttermilk, egg and vanilla; set aside.
2. Stir together flour and cocoa; stir into crisco mixture.
3. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls 2" apart onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes, until edges are firm.
4. Cool on wire racks. Spread 2 TB filling on half of cookies and top with other half.
5. Store, covered, in a cool place or in the fridge.
