Oven Fries 3pts

  • 4

Ingredients

  • 20 ounces russet potatoes, pared & cut 3x1/2"
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 4 teaspoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

Preparation

Step 1

Note: the soaking is suppose to produce crispier fries. Well I am not so sure about that, maybe a little but I don't know if there is a big enough difference to fool with. I have made them with and without soaking.

1. Preheat oven to 450F. Spray nonstick baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray; set aside.

2. In large bowl, combine potatoes, 1/4 teaspoon of the salt and the sugar; pour ice water over them to cover. Soak 15 minutes; drain well and blot dry.

3. In large bowl, toss potatoes with oil and paprika. Place on a baking sheet. Bake, turning potatoes over as they brown, 45 minutes, until cooked through and crisp. Sprinkle with remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt.
