Ingredients
- 3 c. flour
- 2 c. sugar
- 1 c. butter
- 1 c. milk
- 4 egg whites, beaten
- 1 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 3 T. cocoa
- 3/4 tsp. soda
- 1 T. vanilla
Preparation
Step 1
Crema butter and sugar. Mix flour, cream of tartar, cocoa and soda. Add alternately with milk. Add vanilla. Blend beaten egg whites into cake batter. Pour batter into loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees until done by checking with toothpick.
Optionalsubmitted by Evelyn M. Earl: Use uncooked caramel icing to ice this cake. Blend 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar with 2 tablespoons melted butter. Add 3 tablespoons hot water or enough to make perfectly smooth. Fold in enough powdered sugar to spread nicely.
