Ingredients
- Icing:
- 2 c. flour
- 2 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 sticks butter or margarine
- 1 c. water
- 1 tsp. cinnamon (opt.)
- 3 T. cocoa
- 2 eggs, well beaten
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 stick butter
- 5 T. cocoa
- 6 T. milk
- 1 box powdered sugar or 2 2/3 c.
- 1/2 c. pecans
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
Step 1
Sift flour, measure and resift with salt and sugar. In a saucepan, put butter, water and cocoa. Bring to a boil and pour over flour and sugar mixture. In another bowl, put eggs, soda, buttermilk and vanilla. Mix and add flour and sugar mixture. Mix well. Bake in a greased and floured shallow cake pan or cookie sheet. Bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees. Start cooking icing the last 5 minutes while cake is baking. Mix butter, cocoa and milk togethre. Heat over low heat. Do not boil. Remove from heat and add powdered sugar, vanilla and pecans. Mix well. Spread on cake.
