Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 4 cups flour
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 tsp. ginger
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1-2 tsp. cloves
  • 1 tsp. salt

Preparation

Step 1

In a large bowl, cream shortening with sugar till fluffy;
beat in eggs & molasses. Stir together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and salt; gradually mix into cream mixture. Roll in raw sugar or cut into shapes. Bake 350F for 10-12 min.
