Huguenot Torte

Green Granny Smith apples work well inthis recipe, but any tart baking apple such as red Rome or Gala will also do nicely

Ingredients
- 2 eggs
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 c sugar
- 6 tbsp all purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- pinch of table salt
- 1 Granny Smith apple, cored and finely chopped
- 1 c finely chopped pecans
- Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 325. Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with unsalted butter and dust with flour patting out excess
Using a hand mixer beat eggs and yol with vanilla on high speed in a large bowl, adding sugar a little at a time, until sugar is entirely incorporated and eggs are light andfluffly, about 5 minutes.
Whisk together the 6 Tbsp. flour, baking powder, and salt; fold into the egg mixture along with apple and nuts until ingredsients are combined
Pour batter into the prepared baking dish. bake torte in center of oven nil torte is browned on top and toothpick inserted into its center comes out clean. 35-45 minutes. Cool torte 5 minutes.
Serve torte with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream; garnish with apple slices and finely chopped nuts.
