Baked Pork and Beans

  • 1 Lb. Great Northern Beans
  • 1 tsp. Salt
  • 1/2 tsp. Baking Soda
  • 1/2 Lb. Bacon
  • 1 Small Onion, minced
  • 2 Tbs. Molasses
  • 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 Cup Ketchup



Step 1

Rinse and sort beans. Cover with 3 inches of water and soak overnight. In the morning add salt and baking soda and bring to a full boil. Cook for 1/2 hour or until tender. Add more water if needed. Fry, drain and crumble bacon. Pour beans into a 2 qt. casserole dish, add remaining ingredients and stir well. If desired, add bacon drippings for additional flavor. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
