Hot Buttered Rum

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 8 cups water, divided
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup light rum

Preparation

Step 1

1. In a large pan, melt butter over medium heat. Add brown sugar, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and 1 cup water, whisking until well mixed.

2. Cook for 4-5 mins, stirring occasionally, until mixture comes to a boil and sugar is dissolved. Add remaining 7 cups water and cream, whisking until well mixed. Bring to a simmer over medium-low heat; do not boil. Stir in rum.
