Ingredients
- 1 pound diced strawberries
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 strips lemon zest, 2 inches long (use a potato peeler to peel the outermost skin off a lemon)
Preparation
Step 1
Place strawberries in a bowl. Combine water, sugar, vanilla, lemon zest in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a simmer and cook for 1 minute. Pour over strawberries and let stand until cool (the longer you let them stand, the better the syrup will be).
