Ingredients
- 1 (18 1/2 oz) pkg spice cake mix
- 1 large size pkg vanilla pudding
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup oil
- 3/4 cup Irish whiskey
- 4 large eggs
- 1/3 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 stick (1/2 cup) butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tsp. water
- 2 tsp. whiskey
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 300°F.
Blend cake mix and pudding mix in large bowl. In a separate bowl, blend milk, oil and whiskey, then add to dry ingredients. Mix for 2 minutes by hand, make sure to scrape sides of bowl. Pour into a lightly greased tube pan. Sprinkle with walnuts.
Bake approximately 1 1/2 hours, until lightly browned on top. Remove from oven. Leave it in the tube pan.
In a saucepan, heat butter until thoroughly melted. Add sugar, water and whiskey; stir. Lightly boil for 10 minutes, then remove from heat and cool for 3 minutes. Pour over cake while it is still in the pan. Let cool for 1 hour, then remove cake from tube pan right side up, and place on cake plate. Best results if left overnight.
