Ingredients

  • 1/2 stick (4 tbsp.) unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar, lightly packed
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream or whipping cream
  • 1 tbsp. light corn syrup
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract

Preparation

Step 1

In a 4-cup glass measure, combine all ingredients except vanilla extract. Cover with microwave-safe plastic wrap and cut a small hole in the center of the wrap to vent. Microwave 2 min. on high or until the mixture boils.
Remove sauce from the microwave, uncover it and stir until the brown sugar has dissolved. If it does not dissolve, microwave 30 seconds to 1 min. more. Stir in vanilla extract. Serve the sauce warm over dessert waffles or ice cream.
Note: Store any leftover sauce in a covered container in the refrigerator up to 2 weeks. Reheat in the microwave, uncovered on high, until warm throughout, 30 seconds to 1 min. The sauce also can be frozen up to 2 months. To defrost frozen sauce, place it in the refrigerator 24 hours, then reheat in the microwave.
