Ham, Basil Schnittchen

A German small one bottom slice of bread with different toppings. This one is with ham and cream cheese. The small sandwiches are called Schnittchen in Germany. You can use mayo, cream cheese, butter for the spread or make up your own. The are fun and just right when people just want a bite or two.

Ingredients

• 1 french baguette, sliced into 1/2 inch thick slices
• 1/2 pd good quality sliced ham (sliced thinly; but not chipped)
• 1 8oz cream cheese
• 1 bunch of small basil leaves
• 1 pkg of grape or small tomatoes

Preparation

Step 1

Spread the cream cheese, on the sliced bread, then a loose roll of ham, if the ham is long, cut the ham in half. Use a toothpick and add the tomato on top of the ham and place a leave or two of basil on the bread.

These are one or two bite sandwiches.
