"Hormel" Chili (no Beans)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground turkey (or beef)
  • 4 slices bacon (diced)
  • 6 cups cold water
  • 1/4 cup corn starch
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 8 oz tomato sauce
  • 4 TBS chili powder
  • 1 TBS paprika
  • 1 TBS onion flakes (dried)
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/4 tsp oregano
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 TSP Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup Frito's (crushed)

Preparation

Step 1

In large stockpot, cook bacon until browned. Add turkey and cook until no longer pink.

In large mixing bowl, combine water, sifted corn starch, and sifted flour. Blend well. Stir in tomato sauce, chili powder, paprika, onion flakes, cumin, oregano, garlic powder, black pepper, salt, and Worcestershire sauce. Pour into stockpot. Stir in crushed Frito's. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Simmer for 45 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes to prevent sticking or burning (IMPORTANT). It WILL stick quickly if you don't stir frequently.
