Classic Lasagna

Ingredients

  • Italian Meat Sauce
  • 2 medium onions,chopped
  • 1 tbs evoo
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 # ground beef
  • 1 # sausage
  • 1 14.5oz can basil, garlic,&oregano diced tomatoes
  • 1 6oz. cans tomato paste
  • 1 8oz. can basil, garlic, and oregano tomato sauce
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • Noodles
  • 12 uncooked lasagna noodles
  • 8 c boiling water
  • 1 tbs evoo
  • Cheese Mix
  • 1 16oz. container ricotta cheese
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1/4 c grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 18 thin slices mozzarella cheese, divided

Preparation

Step 1

Saute onions until tender.Add garlic, saute 1 minute. Add ground beef. Cook until no longer pink. Add remaining ingredients and cook on low for 30 minutes.
Place noodles in a 9x13 baking dish. Pour water and evoo over noodles. Let stand for 15 minutes. Drain and pat dry.
Mix ricotta and next 4 ingredients.
Discard bay leaf from sauce. Layer sauce, noodles, cheese, and 6 mozzarella slices. Repeat layers twice more.
Bake in 9x13 baking dish, covered, at 350* for 55 minutes. Uncover and bake 15-20 minutes until bubbly. Let stand 10 minutes before cutting.
