Ingredients
- 3 1/2 c milk
- 4 tbs. butter
- 4 tbs. flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 freshly ground black pepper
- 16 + oz. shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 16 oz. pkg. elbow macaroni, cooked
Preparation
Step 1
Melt butter in a 6 qt pot. Warm milk in microwave for 1-1 1/2 minutes. Whisk flour into melted butter. Cook whisking constantly until smooth. Gradually add warm milk and cook 5 minutes or until thickened, whisking constantly. Whisk in cheese (save enough for topping), salt, black pepper, and a dash of red pepper,if desired. Stir in pasta. Spoon into a lightly greased 2-qt baking dish. Top w/ extra cheese. Bake 400* for 20 minutes or until golden and bubbly.
