Egg Custard Pie (Old Fashioned)

Ingredients

  • 9" deep dish pie shell, thawed
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 C. whole milk
  • 2/3 C. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt
  • pinch of nutmeg

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 400°.

Place the pie shell (do not prick it) on a baking sheet and bake for 5 minutes.

Remove and let it cool for 5 minutes.

Meanwhile, whisk together the remaining ingredients.

Place the pie shell on a baking sheet lined with tinfoil (to catch any that might spill over) and pour the filling into the pie shell.

Bake at 400° for 15 minutes, lower the temp. to 325° and bake for 45 to 50 minutes longer.

Let cool completely before slicing.
