Lasagna

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2# Ground beef
  • 2 T Oil
  • 1 C Chopped onion
  • 2 Cloves garlic
  • 1 Can (16 oz) Tomatoes
  • 2 Cans (6 oz) Tomato paste
  • 2 1/2 t Salt
  • 1/2 t Pepper
  • 1 t Basil
  • 1 t Oregano
  • 1 Bay Leaf
  • 8 oz Lasagna noodles
  • 1/2 # sliced or grated Mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 C Parmesan cheese
  • 2 % Cottage cheese (or Ricotta)

Preparation

Step 1

Brown beef in oil; pour off drippings. Add onion and garlic; cook until onion is transparent. Add tomatoes, paste, and seasonings. Simmer 1 hour. Remove bay leaf. Stir in 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese to thicken.
Add Cottage cheese to the mozzarella cheese.
Cook noodles according to directions; drain. Spread 1 cup meat mixture in bottom of ungreased baking dish. Arrange half the noodles over meat sauce. Pour half of remaining meat sauce over noodles and cover with a layer of half the mozzarella cheese. Repeat with remaining noodles, meat, and cheese. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
Bake 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.
