Ingredients
- 4 egg yolks
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 4 egg whites
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2/3 cup cake flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Lemon Filling
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 tbsp corn starch
- 1 tbsp grated lemon rind
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1/3 cup lemon juice
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 egg beaten
- 1 tbsp butter

Step 1
Beat yolks thick. Add 1/4 cup sugar and vanilla. Beat white to soft peaks, add 1/2 cup sugar, beat stiff. Fold yolks into whites. Sift dry ingredients into egg mixture. Spread on wax lined jelly roll pan. Bake 375 10-12 minutes. Remove paper and roll on sugared tea towel.
Mix sugar, cornstarch, salt, water and butter, blend. Cook in double boiler till thick stirring constantly. Cool throughly, 2 hours or more.
