Ingredients
- 1 cup sifted flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 1/2 Tablespoons shortening (and a SMIDGE more actually)
- 1/3 cup milk
Preparation
Step 1
Sift flour, salt and baking powder together in a bowl. Cut in shortening. When well mixed, add the milk gradually until a soft dough is formed.
Turn out onto lightly floured board and knead gently to form a ball. Roll out with floured rolling pin to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut with floured biscuit cutter and put on greased baking sheet.
Bake at 450 degrees for 12-15 minutes.

TO MAKE ONE DOZEN BISCUITS, JUST DOUBLE THE RECIPE:
2 cups sifted flour
1 Tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup shortening
2/3 cup milk
