  • 3 Large Tomatoes
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • Sugar
  • Bread Crumbs
  • 1 Tbs. Vegetable Oil
  • 1 Tbs. Margarine
  • 1/2 Tbs. Flour
  • 1 Cup Milk

Step 1

Cut off ends of each tomato and slice each into about 3 slices. On top of each slice, sprinkle salt, pepper and 1/2 teaspoon sugar. Then dip each slice in breadcrumbs. Put about 1 Tbs. oil and margarine in a frying pan. Fry sugar side up first because sugar burns easily. Fry each side until golden brown. Put slices on a serving platter. If there is no more margarine in the frying pan, add a tablespoon more margarine. Add 1/2 tablespoon of flour and about a cup of milk to make a thin sauce. The bread crumbs left in the pan adds to the flavor. Pour over the tomato slices.
