Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup yellow cornmeal
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 3 tablespoons sour cream
- 3 tablespoons applesauce
- 1 egg

Step 1
PREHEAT oven to 400 degrees. Lightly grease a 10-inch cast iron skillet or baking dish of similar size.
COMBINE flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder and salt in a large mixing bowl.
WHISK milk, oil, sour cream, applesauce and egg together in a separate bowl until well combined. Add to flour mixture, stirring just until combined. Do not overmix. Pour batter into greased skillet.
BAKE until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, 20 to 25 minutes.
