Ingredients
- 1 pkg. active dry yeast
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 c. warm water
- 1 T. sugar
Preparation
Step 1
Soften yeast in 1/2 c. warm water (110 degrees). Stir in flour, 2 c. warm water and 1 T. sugar. Beat until smooth. Cover; let stand at room temp for 5 to 10 days or until bubbly. Stir 2 or 3 times daily. Refrigerate. Use at room temperature.
To keep starter going, stir 1/4 c. all-purpose flour, 3/4 c. water and 1 tsp. sugar into leftover starter. Cover; let stand at room temp for 1 day or until bubbly. Refrigerate. Add 1 tsp. sugar every 10 days if not used.
