Ice Box Rolls

Ingredients

  • 2 cakes yeast
  • 1 c. lukewar water
  • 1/2 c. lard
  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • 6 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. salt

Preparation

Step 1

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Place shortening, margarine and sugar in bowl and cover with boiling water. When shortening is mostly melted, add eggs. Cool. Add yeast mixture; add flour and salt and beat well. Place in a large greased bowl, grease top of dough and place waxed paper over the top of dough and add a damp cloth over the waxed paper. Place in refrigerator. This dough will keep for 1 week. Bake rolls or bread as desired. Shape. Let rise until double in size. Bake at 400 for 15 to 20 minutes.
