Ingredients
- 6 med. onions, thinly sliced
- 1/4 c. butter or oleo
- 1/4 c. flour
- 2 c. milk
- 4 lg. onions (Vidalia or Texas onions are great in this dish)
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 c. shredded cheddar cheese (if preferred, 1 lb. velveeta can be used.)
Preparation
Step 1
Plase onions in lightly greased 2-quart casserole. Melt butter in heavy pan; add flour, stirring until smooth. Gradually add milk; cover over medium heat until thickened and bubbly. Add cheese and salt; stir until smooth sauce. Pour over onions. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
