Ingredients

  • 10 dried figs
  • 1/3 Cup almonds, sliced or slivered
  • 3 T unsweetened cocoa
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 Cup honey
  • 1 tsp grated orange zest
  • 1/4 tsp almond or vanilla extract
  • sugar for rolling

Preparation

Step 1

Trim stems from figs and cut them in half.

In a food processor, pulse the figs, almonds, cocoa and cinnamon, until minced. Add the honey, orange zest and extract. Pulse until well combined.

Place some sugar in a shallow dish.
Roll the sugar plum mixture into bite-sized balls, then roll them in sugar to coat.

Note: can substitute other dried fruit. Also try maple syrup, adjusting quantity to achieve desired texture.
