Ingredients

  • Topping:
  • 5 pounds apples
  • zest of 1 orange
  • zest of 1 lemon
  • 1/2 - 1 C apple cider
  • 1/2 C sugar
  • 2 t cinnamon
  • 1 t nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 C flour or fine graham cracker crumbs
  • 3/4 C sugar
  • 3/4 C brown sugar
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1 C oatmeal
  • 1/2 lb cold unsalted butter, diced

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350. Butter 9x14x2 oval baking dish. Cut apples, combine with zests, juice, sugar & spices. Pour into dish. Combine ingredients for topping in mixer on low speed with paddle attachment. Mix until crumbly. Scatter evenly over apples. Bake 1 hour until top is brown and apples are bubbly.
